Storytime...

Today we ventured out to find a new place for storytime. We ended up at a tiny little library in Smyrna called the Lewis A. Ray Library. I've driven past the library a ton of times, but never really gave it much thought. Well, it turned out to be a great find! Lindy and Caden loved the dancing and singing, the 2 stories about trains, and they LOVED craft-time using their very own glue stick. After storytime, we headed to lunch where the girls were dancing in their seats to the music at Five Guys. They absolutely cracked me up when Caden got on her knees and started shaking her "booty" and then declared that her mommy taught her that. Lindy then followed with a mommy-signature dance of pointing her fingers in the air and going in circles...she declared that daddy taught her that dance (which I find hilarious because Mike has made fun of my dancing since we met). All three of us laughed hysterically the entire lunch. Finally, we made it to the fountain where the girls had a long conversation about who they were making wishes for before they threw their pennies in together. Their first wish was for Mimi (Caden's Grandma) and then they both went through everyone in their families (including the dogs)! It was so sweet. Love these girls!!!

Catching Up...

Well, it's been awhile since I have updated Lindy's blog, so I'm going to try to update from Dec - now and keep it short and sweet.
Christmas 09 in Atlanta...Lindy loved having
her family here.

... especially her Brookie! We flew to WV on Christmas day and spent time with our families in WV and NY. I think Lindy's highlight was seeing all her cousins.

We also have seen a lot of snow this year. Lindy and I were at my mom's in Feb. when she got over 2 ft of snow at her house. Lindy went slide riding with Grammy and we made tunnels in the snow. She loved every second of it. Then, we were lucky enough to have snow a couple times in Atlanta this year...we even made a snowman!

We were lucky enough to spend some time at a beautiful cabin up in the mountains with great friends. Both the adults and the kids had a blast!

Lindy loves this $1 Easter hat that we got at Target. She wore it around the house for days.

Lindy finally got to wear her new leotard to gymnastics last week. Here she is with her BFF at gymnastics...they love each other!

Lastly, is the reason I got behind on my blogging. In November my step-father was diagnosed with lung cancer. By the time they found the cancer, it was all through him and he passed away less than 4 weeks later - the day before Thanksgiving. He loved Lindy to death and she loved him so much. Lindy talks about "Pappy Jake" a lot, but today was the first day she asked "Where has Pappy been?". I didn't really answer her, but she knows that talking about him makes me sad because every time she says his name she looks at me and asks if I'm going to cry a little. One of my biggest fears is that she will not have any memories of her Pappy. Hopefully, by showing her pictures and telling her stories about him, she will always remember him.

This is the card that Pappy Jake sent to Lindy for her birthday last year. They always told each other that they loved each other to the moon and the sun and the stars and...whatever else they could think of. We miss him so much.

Happy Halloween

Halloween day started out a little soggy and very disappointing, as it drizzled with rain all morning and Lindy's swim class (which she loves) was canceled due to poop in the pool. To lift her spirits we decided to hit Kangazoom with her best buddy, Caden. I really can't wait to see how Lindy and Caden's friendship progresses as they get older. They absolutely adore each other and ask to be with each other 24/7. Below, they said they were driving to the beach...I worry what these two will be up to in 15 years driving to the beach!

Lindy hasn't seen Mike for 2 weeks, so when he came home Friday night she was thrilled to see him. She really has missed him lately and was very excited to hear that daddy gets to stay home this week and not go on the airplane (she thinks Mike's office is on the airplane). They have been inseparable all weekend, which they are both thoroughly enjoying.

So, finally we get to hit the neighborhood parade and trick-or-treating. We borrowed a shark costume from the Seymours, which Lindy has worn probably 10 times prior to Halloween. Of course, the time came to put on her costume and she wanted no part of it. I was not willing to let her miss Halloween, so I told Mike to hold her down and I stuffed her into her beloved Sharky costume. Once she got it on, there was no looking back. The tears turned off instantly and she had a blast with all her friends. I think this video says it all...

A Good Start!!

Well, I have to say that today Lindy made the start to my day the best it could be. As she sat on my bed watching Dora, while I was getting ready, she looked up at me and said "Mommy, you got a new shirt (which I did) and you look pretty." My heart melted!!! Then, as she was sitting on the potty (of all places), she looks at me and and says "I love you, Mommy. You are so beautiful." Wow...she put a permanent smile on my face for the day. I love these days with her!!!

What a better way to end the night, but with a couple self-portraits!!!!

Fall Has Arrived

Fall has definitely arrived in Atlanta. The nights are cool, football is on all weekend, and the pumpkin patches and Fall Festivals are in full swing. We spent the weekend taking full advantage of the weather. We started on Saturday by hitting the Pace Fall Fair with the Killimetts and Kings. The girls loved the rides, jumpy houses, and the pony rides. I think the pony ride was Lindy's favorite...she loved the name of her pony, Short Stop. She kept saying that Caden was riding a cow, I have to admit her pony did have spots like the Chick-fil-A Cow.

On Sunday, we headed to the pumpkin patch. Lindy loved picking out her pumpkins and getting her picture taken with Daddy. She also insisted on bringing her own camera to take a picture of her chosen pumpkins. The pumpkins are now on display on the front porch, but if you make any mention of them Lindy insists on going out to check on them.

I had to include the comparison of Lindy last year at the pumpkin patch and this year. My baby girl is growing up!

Can she make it?

My mom asked if Lindy could swim from one side of the pool to the other...before today, we hadn't tried it. Let's just say she did it No Problem!! I think Grammy was very proud of her :)

Is it the Wicked Witch of the East???

Nope. Just Lindy climbing through our make-shift tunnel!!!
